Family Name Variation Examples
As you may or may not know, there are over twenty variations of the Aebi-Eby family names. Abey, Abee, Äbi, Abie, Aby, Aeby, Abbey, Eabi, Eaby, Eavy, Ebbe, Ebee, Ebey, Evy, Ewy are just a few.
In researching this book, we have seen many documents with multiple spellings for the same person and yet they all sound essentially the same.
Here is an example of our family name being spelled three different ways in the John Eby Inventory taken in 1798.
